Vortex is considered the world leader in valves for handling dry bulk solids. It all began in 1980 when the company was awarded a patent on the Orifice Gate Valve. This new and innovative valve design surpassed the industry’s expectations for handling dry materials in pneumatic conveying. Soon, following the orifice gate came launch of the Wye Line Diverter Valve. This diverter valve applied the same design concepts of the orifice gate dramatically improving process efficiencies when compared to traditional flapper or tunnel style diverters. |
QUANTUM ORIFICE SLIDE GATE VALVESuitable for – Pneumatic & Gravity Flow Conveying ![]() The Vortex Quantum Series Orifice Slide Gate Valve is specifically engineered to handle dry bulk solids in gravity flow, dilute phase or vacuum conveying systems with pressures up to 15psig (1bar-g) depending on size. Traditional slide gates and butterfly valves commonly allow packing of material, which prevents positive air and material shut off. Unlike common knife gates and butterfly valves, the Orifice Slide Gate valve is specifically engineered to handle dry bulk powders, pellets and granules. Knife Gates rely on soft elastomeric seals which erode or tear away in service. Butterfly Valves incorporate discs that cause significant flow restrictions, thus impacting system performance and throughput. Both designs promote wedging and packing materials, preventing positive air and material shut off. The orifice gate eliminates design flaws associated with knife gates and butterfly valves.

TPV – SLIDE GATE VALVESuitable for – Gravity, Pneumatic & Dense Phase Conveying The Titan Pressure Valve is designed to address higher-pressure applications up to 100 psig (6.8 barg) and higher temperatures up to 660° F (350° C). The TPV Gate is engineered for highly abrasive applications and requires minimal maintenance over the life of the valve. Featuring Vortex’s patented rising-blade technology ensures an optimal seal and positive material shutoff with the use of lifting lugs. This prevents the blade from jamming or packing material upon closure, which can cause serious downtime. Unlike most knife gates, the Vortex TPV contains a replaceable seat that can significantly increase the life of the valve. This fully bonneted slide gate consists of cast ductile iron flanges with a hardened 440C stainless steel blade and seat. Flanges match #125/150 ANSI mounting pattern with through holes and blind tapped holes. A double acting air cylinder actuates the valve open and closed and optional metering controls are available. Material contact is 440C stainless steel and ductile iron.

HDPV2 – SLIDE GATE VALVESuitable for – Pneumatic & Gravity Flow Conveying Designed to address higher pressure applications up to 75 psig (5 bar-g) depending on size, the Vortex Quantum Series HDPV2 valve sets itself apart from traditional industry slide gates. The rising blade design provides positive material shut-off by means of an o-ring seal on the inlet of the valve. This design feature eliminates the issues related to packing or material causing abrasion to the end seal.

WYE LINE DIVERTER VALVESuitable for – Pneumatic & Gravity Flow Conveying The Vortex Quantum Series Wye Line Diverter is specifically engineered to handle dry bulk solids in vacuum or dilute phase pneumatic conveying systems with pressures up to 15 psig (1 bar-g) depending on size. A full flow orifice provides unrestricted conveying of material. The live loaded seals are shielded from abrasion by metal insert.

SEAL TITE DIVERTER VALVESuitable for – Gravity Flow Conveying The Vortex Seal Tite Diverter is designed for use in gravity flow applications where material can be diverted from one source to either two or three destinations. The seal tite diverter offers a removable access door for interior inspection, cleaning and maintenance.

GRAVITY VEE DIVERTER VALVESuitable for – Gravity Flow Conveying The Vortex Gravity Vee Diverter is designed to divert dry bulk solids in gravity flow conveying system. The design allows for material flow through both outlets simultaneously, one outlet at a time, or a complete shut off of the flow. The gravity vee diverter is also capable of metering flow through either outlet port.

IRIS VALVESuitable for – Gravity Flow Conveying The patented Vortex Iris Valve is designed specifically to handle dry bulk solids in gravity discharge of free flowing material from bins, bulk bags, chutes and hoppers. The Vortex Iris valve is designed with stainless steel control rings, metal handle and trigger lock and nylon shim for durability and smooth actuation. A form fitted fabric sleeve provides a dust tight seal and product barrier which prevents material leakage into the atmosphere.
